Production Supervisor - NightsThe Production Supervisor is a high-visibility, floor-based leader responsible for managing hourly bakers to achieve safety, quality, and cost objectives. This role focuses on driving high-performance team culture through active coaching, rigorous attendance management, and consistent application of company policies.Primary ResponsibilitiesSafetyLead with safety as the highest operational priorityEnforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirementsConduct safety observations, audits, and incident investigationsEnsure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustainedPromote safe work practices, PPE use, and hazard awarenessFood Safety & QualityEnsure compliance with GMPs, SQF Code, HACCP plans, and customer requirementsVerify production activities meet approved food safety and quality specificationsEnsure accurate and complete food safety and quality documentationReinforce food safety culture through visible floor leadershipProduction & OperationsExecute daily production plans to meet safety, quality, service, and cost targetsCommunicate schedules, priorities, and expectations to direct reportsMonitor and control KPIs (attainment, efficiency, waste, labor, downtime)Resolve shift-level production issues and escalate as neededEnsure effective shift handoffs and operational communicationLeadership & People ManagementTeam Leadership and Performance ManagementActive Coaching: Act as a player-coach on the floor, providing real-time feedback to bakers on technique, speed, and safety. Identify skill gaps and coordinate cross-training to ensure a flexible workforce.Disciplinary Action: Address performance or behavioral issues immediately and fairly. Partner with HR to ensure progressive discipline is consistently followed, with all documentation remaining objective, timely, and in full alignment with company policies.Conflict Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for floor-level disputes, maintaining a professional and respectful work environment.Values Leadership: Champion Baker Values and our Safety First, Quality Always culture through daily shift huddles and consistent personal modeling.Time, Attendance and AdministrationLabor Optimization: Utilize labor management software to ensure daily staffing levels meet production demand while minimizing unnecessary overtime.Attendance Tracking: Monitor points or attendance occurrences daily. Conduct return to work interviews and address chronic absenteeism or tardiness through the formal disciplinary process.Payroll Integrity: Perform daily audits of baker timecards for accuracy regarding missed punches. Approve all hours on a daily basis and ensure that timecards are finalized for payroll review according to communicated deadlines.Resource Allocation: Dynamically reassign bakers during the shift based on skill sets and real-time production bottlenecksOperational ManagementEfficiency Monitoring: Monitor line efficiencies, downtime, and labor utilization. Audit and correct downtime codes for data accuracy to ensure proper root cause solutions and resource allocation.Inventory and Reporting: Ensure accurate inventory usage against reported consumption of raw and packaging materials using ERP software.Report on the previous day's metrics and create action plans to report to senior leadership.Sense of Urgency: Act with a sense of urgency during downtime events and escalate to leadership as defined. Ensure the team is always providing value-added work.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPeople Management: Proven ability to lead diverse teams, deliver difficult feedback constructively, and maintain morale under high-pressure production deadlines.Technical Literacy: Proficient in Labor Management Systems, ERP software, and navigating HMI panels.Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of GMP, HACCP, and SQF food safety standards.Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret KPIs such as labor percentage, downtime, and throughput and translate them into actionable instructions for the team.Education & ExperienceAssociate's degree required/bachelor's degree preferred; or 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.Food, beverage, or bakery experience strongly preferredEquivalent education and experience may be consideredBilingual is PreferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong safety, GMP, HACCP, and SQF knowledgeProven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentExperience managing production KPIs and accountabilityEffective communication, coaching, and decision-making skillsAbility to work extended hours on the production floorAbility to work in hot, cold, dusty, noisy, and confined environmentsEmployment DetailsFull-time, onsite position located in Indianapolis, IN.Industrial bakery environment: weekends and holidays as neededCraftMark Bakery is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
