Job Description

Operate and program CNC equipment to produce sheet metal components according to production orders, blueprints, and schematics. Set up and adjust tooling, verify material specifications, and ensure parts meet quality standards using appropriate measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC punch press machines to produce parts that meet specified dimensions and tolerances.

• Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and production orders to determine job requirements.

• Identify and select the correct gauges and types of sheet metal for each job.

• Perform machine set up, including installing, changing, and adjusting tooling as needed.

• Operate CNC punch press equipment safely and efficiently throughout the production run.

• Use calipers and other measuring tools to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy.

• Monitor machine operation and make programming or tooling adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.

• Troubleshoot basic machine and tooling issues and escalate complex problems when necessary.

• Follow fabrication procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality sheet metal parts.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to all safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience operating CNC punch press machines or CNC lathes in a production environment.

• Ability to program CNC equipment, including entering and adjusting codes for punch press operations.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.

• Experience with machine setup, including changing and aligning tooling for different jobs.

• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and correct gauge selection.

• Skill in using calipers and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.

• Ability to work from production orders and follow established manufacturing procedures.

• Understanding of basic safety practices in a loud, industrial manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical school background in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is a plus.

• Familiarity with CNC programming and coding for punch press operations.

• Experience in general machine operation and production work in a fabrication environment.

• Comfort working with various sheet metal materials and thicknesses.

• Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment and tooling issues.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple production tasks.

Work Environment

Work in a busy, loud, and noisy manufacturing facility that is not temperature controlled. The role involves operating CNC punch press machinery in an industrial fabrication setting, with exposure to typical shop conditions such as machine noise and varying temperatures. Appropriate work attire and adherence to safety guidelines are essential

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmingdale, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
