$189.2k - $315.4kjobgether
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a National Patient Engagement Director – ATTR & Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) based in United States.
This senior leadership role will shape and execute the national patient engagement strategy across two critical Specialty Care therapeutic areas: Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR) and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
You will lead a national field organization of eight Community Navigators supporting patients, advocacy groups, and community partners.
The role combines strategic leadership, team development, budget ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and community engagement.
You will translate patient and community insights into actionable strategies that strengthen engagement and improve support across both disease areas.
Working closely with commercial, medical, legal, compliance, and other enterprise partners, you will ensure initiatives are impactful, coordinated, and appropriately governed.
A strong focus on health equity will be essential, particularly when addressing the needs of underserved patient populations.
This is a high-visibility, field-based opportunity requiring significant travel and the ability to lead effectively across complex healthcare environments.
Accountabilities
- Own the national patient engagement strategy, execution, and outcomes across ATTR and SCD, balancing priorities, resources, budgets, and programs across both therapeutic areas.
- Develop and maintain an integrated operating model that responds to changing business priorities, market dynamics, patient needs, and portfolio evolution.
- Partner with brand and marketing leadership to incorporate patient and community insights into strategic and tactical planning.
- Establish and manage KPI frameworks for both therapeutic areas, monitoring performance and communicating outcomes to senior leadership.
- Lead and develop a national team of eight Community Navigators, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and career development.
- Deploy field resources strategically to address coverage gaps, emerging priorities, and changing needs across territories and therapeutic areas.
- Foster a high-performing, adaptable team culture and ensure colleagues receive appropriate disease-area, engagement, and compliance training.
- Oversee patient-program and field-operations budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively across communities and territories.
- Lead relationships with Patient Advocacy Groups, community organizations, patient advocates, and other external stakeholders to advance awareness and support for ATTR and SCD patients.
- Guide the delivery of patient education, resources, and support programs through community-facing teams and sponsored events.
- Represent the organization at relevant industry conferences and congresses and build strong relationships across both patient communities.
- Collaborate with commercial, medical affairs, market access, government affairs, legal, compliance, marketing, and other cross-functional partners to align engagement strategies and initiatives.
- Analyze healthcare trends, organizational metrics, market dynamics, payer considerations, and community perceptions to identify opportunities and improve engagement effectiveness.
- Ensure patient engagement activities across both therapeutic areas meet applicable legal, regulatory, governance, and compliance standards.
- Lead business-critical initiatives, remove operational barriers, promote continuous improvement, and share insights and best practices across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in advocacy, pharmaceutical, medical sales, account management, or a related healthcare field.
- Experience working with ATTR and/or Sickle Cell Disease is required.
- Demonstrated experience leading field-based teams, preferably with five or more direct reports and responsibility for hiring, coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Experience working with Community-Based Organizations and/or Patient Advocacy Groups and building productive external partnerships.
- Experience working with health systems and navigating complex cross-functional relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple products, brands, or therapeutic areas simultaneously, including prioritizing resources across competing demands.
- Strong understanding of the US healthcare system, healthcare environment, payer landscape, and reimbursement dynamics.
- Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that deliver measurable business and engagement outcomes against defined KPIs.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, business acumen, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate scenarios and translate insights into pragmatic recommendations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including confidence engaging senior leaders and mobilizing stakeholders across complex organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through organizational change, motivate diverse teams, and create strong collaborative relationships.
- Strong project and program management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight timelines.
- Familiarity with the cardiac rare disease/ATTR and/or hematology/SCD landscape is highly valuable.
- Experience advancing health equity initiatives and engaging underserved patient communities is preferred.
- Experience developing performance measurement frameworks and KPIs for field-based organizations is preferred.
- Valid US driver's license and driving record meeting applicable standards required.
- Willingness and ability to travel more than 50% as required to build internal and external relationships and support field activities.
- Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Benefits
- Annual base salary range of $189,200–$315,400 , depending on location, experience, skills, qualifications, business needs, and internal equity.
- Eligibility for a Global Performance Plan bonus with a target of 22.5% of base salary .
- Eligibility to participate in a share-based long-term incentive program .

- Comprehensive medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage.
- Paid vacation, holidays, and personal days.
- Paid caregiver, parental, and medical leave.
- Potential relocation assistance based on business needs and eligibility.
- Full-time, remote/field-based work environment with significant opportunities to engage with national stakeholders and patient communities.
