Guardians Of Honor (GOH) is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 ( We are seeking experienced STEM education professionals to support the operation of our DoD STARBASE Academy client at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.

This position supports Advanced STARBASE 2.0/3.0, an optional extension of the STARBASE Academy program. It will only be established if the Government exercises this option, which may occur after the first full year of Basic STARBASE core instruction and/or program evaluation.

GOH is recruiting in anticipation of potential future openings that are subject to final approval and funding. No guarantee of position availability can be made at this time; however, candidate identification and preliminary interviews are being conducted to support timely hiring should authorization be granted.

Position Overview

The STARBASE STEM Coordinator leads Advanced STARBASE 2.0/3.0, an afterschool STEM club extension of the STARBASE Academy serving students in grades 6–12. The Coordinator builds and manages partnerships with mentors from DoD, industry, and universities, keeping students engaged in STEM through junior high and high school. The role follows ASD(M&RA) guidelines and the DoD Advanced STARBASE Program Guide, and reports to the STARBASE Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Advanced STARBASE 2.0/3.0 afterschool STEM club programming for grades 6–12, IAW DoDI 1025.07 and the DoD Advanced STARBASE Program Guide
• Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteer mentors from DoD, industry, and university partners
• Develop STEM club curriculum, projects, and competition opportunities that keep students motivated and participating through junior high and high school
• Coordinate scheduling, transportation logistics, and communications with participating schools and families for afterschool sessions
• Maintain program records, track student participation and outcomes, and report to the STARBASE Director and COR
• Ensure all staff and volunteer mentors meet applicable background-check and child-safety requirements before working with students

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a STEM field or education
• Experience working with middle school or high school-age youth in an educational, mentoring, or after-school-program setting preferred
• Must pass security and background checks for working in a DoD facility and with children; no interaction with children/students is authorized until a preliminary background check is completed

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of internet-based tools
• Ability to build and manage partnerships with DoD, industry, and university mentors
• Strong organizational and program-coordination skills
• Ability and willingness for quality communication with military and civilian personnel, school staff, students, parents, and volunteer mentors
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification

Supervisory Responsibilities: None directly; coordinates and provides guidance to volunteer STEM mentors.

Reports to: STARBASE Director

Work Environment: Onsite at the DoD STARBASE facility; Patrick Space Force Base (Satellite Beach, FL). Some coordination with partner schools and mentor organizations offsite may be required.

Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Non-exempt

This role can be structured one of two ways, depending on program scope and funding once the Advanced STARBASE 2.0/3.0 option is exercised. Both options are outlined below for planning purposes; the final model will be confirmed before this position is posted.

Option A – Part-Time (Afterschool Hours Only)

Part-time, focused on delivering Advanced STARBASE 2.0/3.0 STEM club sessions during the afterschool hours when middle school and high school students are available (generally mid-afternoon through early evening on school days), plus time for session prep and mentor coordination.

Option B – Full-Time (Daytime Coordination + Afterschool Sessions)

Full-time, combining STARBASE core daytime hours (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) for admin and coordination duties — mentor and partner recruitment, curriculum development, scheduling, and reporting — with direct delivery of the STEM club sessions at the start of the afterschool block.

Travel: Minimal; primarily local to the STARBASE facility and partner sites (schools, mentor organizations).
