Reading Room Assistant

General Overview This role will be responsible for communication for the reading rooms, workflow and image management, information dissemination, and administrative support. Responsibilities Communication Hub – Primary point of contact for the reading room. Triaging a high volume of incoming phone calls, pages, and messages from referring physicians, emergency department staff, and technologists. Workflow Management – Monitoring imaging worklists, prioritizing urgent cases (trauma, stroke codes), ensuring prior images, patient history, and clinical documentation are available for radiologist review. Information Dissemination – Relaying critical or urgent test results to clinicians and documenting all communications according to regulatory standards. Image Management – Coordinating retrieval, transfer, and uploading of outside patient images/studies into PACS if not already completed by department secretary. Administrative Support – Managing email correspondence, maintaining on‑call lists for radiologists, assisting with patient scheduling or registration, and performing general office duties such as stocking supplies and light equipment troubleshooting. Other duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications High School/GED 5+ years of relevant experience Preferred: Associate's degree Preferred: Experience in healthcare, clinical support, emergency department, or administrative role Skills Proficiency with computer systems, including EMR, RIS, and PACS Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to remain calm in fast‑paced, high‑stress environments Knowledge of basic medical terminology and HIPAA patient confidentiality laws Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Pay Range Minimum: $18.75 per hour – Maximum: $26.25 per hour.
