AGENCY BACKGROUND:

Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1979. NMIC has grown into a leading multi-service agency with over 100 staff members serving New York City with a focus on upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Job Title: Case Manager Adult Career Programs

Department: Education & Career Services Department

Reports To: Adult Career Services Program Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

NMIC's Education & Career Services department provides linguistically accessible, industry-aligned training and case management designed to improve employment outcomes.


This is a case management position that reports to the Adult Career Services Program Manager and works closely with the Adult Career Services teams. This position is responsible for overall case management of candidates in NMIC's Adult Career program with a focus on the Certified Nurse Aide (CNAP) pathway.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct intake and assessment to evaluate clients applying to NMIC's Adult Career Programs to assess eligibility, readiness for participation, and commitment to the program.
  • Provide regular trauma-informed and culturally competent case management services to clients. The Case Manager is expected to connect with clients at least biweekly during training and throughout the year of follow-up.
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to support program persistence and job retention.
  • Facilitate referrals to internal and external resources to address candidates' barriers to participation and employment.
  • Develop and maintain an individualized service plan for each client that identifies goals, barriers to participation, and the services and supports that are in place and identified for referral.
  • Collaborate with the Workforce Solutions Manager to develop and implement individualized job placement and retention strategies for clients.
  • Facilitate workshops focused on employability, social and emotional learning, and other skills to promote success in the program and in the workplace.
  • Develop tools and resources as needed to promote client success.
  • Maintain comprehensive case notes, progress notes, and candidate case records with evidence of achieved outcomes.
  • Enter candidate information including but not limited to: demographic information, enrollment and attendance records, case notes, outcomes, and other required data in all NMIC and funder required databases in a timely manner.
  • Support outreach and recruitment efforts as needed, including attending community events and liaising with partner organizations.
  • Support work across the department and the larger organization, including participation in NMIC advocacy efforts and other events when requested.
  • Attend all team, department and organizational staff meetings as requested.
  • Participate in programmatic coalitions, peer groups, and professional development activities as appropriate.
Additional related responsibilities may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS required in human services, social work or a related field and at least one year of experience in a social services agency. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of BA/BS.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including using filters and formulas in Excel, creating and formatting documents in PowerPoint, and developing forms in Forms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Salesforce experience a plus
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends when requested

SALARY/BENEFITS:

NMIC offers a competitive salary based on experience and education as well as a comprehensive and generous benefits package: medical, dental, life, and disability insurance are included; paid time off, including 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, and 12 agency holidays; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits.
