Role Overview

As a Residential HVAC Field Service Specialist, you’ll provide top-tier service and maintenance on residential heating and cooling systems under the guidance of the HVAC Service Supervisor and Operations Management. Your focus: accurate diagnosis, quality repairs, and clear communication—every time.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and repair residential heating and air conditioning equipment.
• Inspect ducting and ensure company materials/equipment remain in serviceable condition.
• Identify, wire, and commission complete residential HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot issues, recommend solutions, and complete repairs to restore proper operation.
• Perform start-ups; test and document results to verify proper system performance.
• Conduct thorough system inspections and share any concerns with dispatch/customers.
• Explain services and repairs performed to dispatch/customers in plain language.
• Coordinate daily with the office to manage your schedule and appointments.
• Order required parts in advance to ensure you’re prepared for each service call.
• Transport parts, materials, and tools to job sites and maintain accurate inventory/accounting.
• Complete all digital paperwork on your tablet neatly and on time.
• Debrief each visit with dispatch/customers and document the outcome.
• Leave every work area clean and safe upon completion.
• Keep your company vehicle clean and well-organized inside and out.
• Uphold company performance standards and code of ethics.
• Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor with customers and teammates.
• Use protective floor savers on all footwear inside client homes.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of residential HVAC experience.
• EPA Certification.
• Solder/brazing proficiency.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively in English.
• Beginner-level computing skills; able to use a computer, laptop, or tablet.
• Basic internet navigation and email skills (e.g., Microsoft Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work overtime with short notice; occasional weekend availability.

Preferred Qualifications

• HVAC trade school certification.
• 2+ years of residential HVAC experience.

Where and How You’ll Work

• Primarily at occupied residences and construction sites; limited time in an office.
• Travel by vehicle between job locations.
• Regular exposure to construction environments: equipment, ladders, attics, crawlspaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors.
• Indoor/outdoor work in all weather (heat, rain, cold, wind) with appropriate PPE.

Physical Demands

• Operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift.
• Lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Frequent climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
• Work at heights; climb ladders and stairways.
• Wear required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, reflective vests, gloves, and safety-toe, construction-grade boots.
• Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Hear and distinguish speech/sounds to operate phones and equipment safely.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision with normal depth perception (with or without correction).
• Clearly convey information verbally to others.
• Enter data on a handheld device or computer via keyboard or 10-key keypad.
• Use arms/hands to reach overhead, signal, grasp, hold, lift, turn, push, and pull tools and materials.
