Program Manager, Research Operations

The Program Manager, Research Operations position reports to the Director, Research Operations. This position is responsible for assisting with the activities required to support the function of Research Operations and the Research Community. Research Operations is the Medical Center’s administrative body that supports its basic and clinical research program. Some Department-specific Responsibilities May Include Research Recruitment and Space Management: Maintains an accurate accounting of research space assignments through the research space database, performs space surveys to ensure accuracy, and provides analysis and real-time reports for research space and investigator dollar density. Coordinates with departments and institutional leadership to support research recruitment efforts and evaluates space allocations for incoming recruits according to approved guidelines and strategic priorities. Liaises with Research Facilities and other operational departments to coordinate space planning, renovations, moves, and infrastructure needs, and participates in facility-wide planning. May also utilize AutoCAD for floor plans, space design, and planning. Special Programs: Assists the Director and Research Operations staff with managing various programs and projects that impact research, such as the Institutional Biosafety Committee, Research Security initiatives, research safety program management, capital equipment ROI analysis, workload analysis, training programs, space planning, research grant reporting, SOP creation for Research Operations, and implementation of Medical Center-wide initiatives. Research Operations Liaison/Representative: Serves as a liaison between research and other Medical Center departments and may represent Research Operations on BIDMC committees, as assigned. Research Capital Budget Management: Prepares and manages the capital budget for research, performs related financial and accounting activities, maintains records of capital expenses, and assists senior managers with capital budget preparation, monthly analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Develop the business plan in collaboration with the program director and leaders, identifying strategies, objectives, and timetables for implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Update the plan as necessary to reflect changes. Ensure all program policies and procedures are developed and current. Develop program-specific performance measures to assess effectiveness and success. Implement data collection processes and communicate performance through periodic reports to working and executive groups. Promote the program to internal and external audiences and explore/executive fundraising opportunities. Develop proposals and costings for program developments and present to the director and leaders for approval. Manage advisory board/council or committee activities, set agendas, facilitate meetings, and ensure goals are achieved. Direct and support employees’ daily work activities, including hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct reports: 2–3; Indirect reports: none. Assist in planning, monitoring, and/or managing the budget in the functional area of the department. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 3–5 years related work experience required, including 1 year of supervisory/management experience. Experience in program development and implementation. Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other web-based applications. Ability to produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases. Oral Communications: Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English, address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate, and persuade others. Knowledge: Demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices, and policies with the ability to apply them in complex and unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas. Teamwork: Act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, fostering a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Customer Service: Lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in the assigned unit(s) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respectful manner. Physical Nature Of The Job sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally when carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally. Pay Range

$70,000.00 USD – $100,000.00 USD
