Position Overview

Our client, a leading organization within the food and beverage manufacturing industry, is seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician to join its Quality Assurance and Laboratory team.

The Lab Technician will play a critical role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance by performing a variety of analytical, microbiological, and quality assurance tests on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, and packaging components.

The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to support product release decisions and maintain the highest standards of quality throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and specialized analytical testing on in-process and finished product samples to verify compliance with quality specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Perform microbiological and chemical analyses on food and beverage products, packaging materials, and incoming raw materials.
• Execute laboratory testing using a variety of analytical techniques, including wet chemistry methods and instrumental analysis.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, including pH meters, UV-Visible spectrophotometers (UV-Vis), Gas Chromatography (GC) systems, and other testing instrumentation.
• Collect, prepare, and document samples in accordance with established laboratory procedures and quality standards.
• Conduct government-mandated compliance testing and verify product conformity prior to product release.
• Perform quality assurance inspections and tests, including pressure checks, Hawk UV analysis, and additional laboratory evaluations as required.
• Accurately record, analyze, and report test results while maintaining complete and organized laboratory documentation.
• Investigate and communicate any out-of-specification results, quality concerns, or process deviations to appropriate stakeholders.
• Support product hold investigations, root cause analysis activities, corrective action initiatives, internal audits, and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), food safety standards, laboratory safety procedures, and company policies.
• Assist with special laboratory projects and cross-functional quality initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline required.

Experience

• 0-1 years of laboratory, quality assurance, manufacturing, research, or related industry experience required.
• Internship, co-op, academic laboratory, or undergraduate research experience will be considered.

Technical Skills

• Exposure to analytical laboratory techniques and testing methodologies.
• Experience using laboratory instrumentation such as GC, UV-Vis, HPLC, or similar analytical equipment is preferred.
• Familiarity with wet chemistry techniques, including pH testing and sample preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document and interpret data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data entry and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a food, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, or manufacturing laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, and quality systems.
• Understanding of microbiological testing procedures and laboratory best practices.
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
