Mid-Level Affordable Housing Finance Associate Attorney

Overview The Affordable Housing Finance team represents banks, financial institutions, and other lenders in affordable housing finance transactions nationwide. The team's scope includes tax-exempt financing of affordable housing projects, tax-exempt and taxable bond transactions, construction-to-permanent loans, and agency program matters (HUD, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae transactions). The team advises clients across the full transaction lifecycle, encompassing origination, closing, servicing, payoff, and, when necessary, workouts and enforcement, often navigating layered capital structures involving intercreditor arrangements, subordinate financing, and tax credit programs. The role offers direct client contact and meaningful opportunities to take ownership of deal workstreams. Required experience includes representing lenders in affordable housing and multifamily finance transactions, specifically tax-exempt and taxable construction, bridge, and permanent financings. Candidates must have significant lender-side experience drafting and negotiating mortgage loan documents, including intercreditor and subordinate financing arrangements for affordable housing and multifamily projects, and conducting real estate and entity due diligence.
