We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience who wants meaningful responsibility, consistent courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to build a strong professional reputation in the Denver legal community. We need this Associate to support overflow from the Criminal/Traffic defense docket and Personal Injury docket, and we are also looking to add Workers Compensation to the firm's regular capabilities so it would be a HUGE plus if the candidate has experience in that area. The ideal candidate would be bringing a book of business from either practice area, OR have lead referral sources from networking in the community. Practice Areas This role includes hands-on work in: Criminal Defense Traffic Defense Personal Injury Workers Compensation What You’ll Do Legal & Courtroom Responsibilities Handle criminal defense matters from arraignment through disposition Represent clients in traffic cases, including hearings and negotiations Manage your own workers compensation cases from beginning to end Appear regularly in courts along the Front Range Draft motions, pleadings, discovery responses, and legal correspondence Negotiate with prosecutors and insurance companies from a position of strength Client Advocacy Serve as a strong, compassionate advocate for clients navigating intimidating legal systems Communicate clearly and honestly about strategy, risks, and expectations Build trust with clients who often feel ignored or mistreated by institutions Organization & Technology Manage your caseload efficiently using case management software and digital tools Track deadlines, court dates, and tasks with precision Continuously improve personal workflows and systems Marketing & Community Presence Actively represent the firm at networking events, bar functions, and community events Build referral relationships with other attorneys and professionals Participate in firm marketing initiatives and local outreach Be a visible, professional ambassador for the firm in the community What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school Licensed and in good standing with the Colorado Bar 2-4 years of experience in Criminal Law in Colorado Any experience with Workers Compensation is a huge plus Comfort and experience appearing in court and advocating for clients Strong written and verbal communication skills Ideal Candidate Traits Highly organized and self-directed Comfortable using technology to manage cases and deadlines Extroverted, confident, and enjoys networking Compassionate and client-focused Comfortable taking ownership of cases and outcomes Already has a book of business and referral sources Compensation & Benefits Base salary: $95,000–$125,000, depending on experience Performance-based bonuses Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance 401(k) Opportunity for long-term growth and increased responsibility in a supportive, team-oriented environment Why This Role Is Different Immediate, meaningful courtroom experience Direct client contact and real responsibility A firm culture that values aggressive advocacy and genuine compassion The opportunity to help grow a boutique practice and build your own professional brand Work that directly impacts people’s lives How to Apply Please submit: Resume Cover letter explaining why this role aligns with your experience and values #J-18808-Ljbffr Smith & Weidinger, P.L.L.C.
