Virtual Registered Nurse

The following role is an onsite RN position focused on providing virtual support and collaboration with bedside teams to enhance patient outcomes. Job Description Summary Onsite RN, responsible for virtual admissions and ongoing patient support, collaborating closely with bedside nursing staff via video monitoring and EMR documentation. Virtual Responsibilities Conduct virtual admissions, documenting patient history, allergies, and baseline needs in the EMR. Use independent critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery. Provide support to the bedside care team through direct observation via video monitoring and appropriate documentation. Round virtually for assigned patients and document patient responses per established guidelines in the EMR. Perform assessments on assigned patients in collaboration with bedside nurses, ensuring complete documentation. Successfully complete ACLS training and maintain current status within 90 days of hire. Establish an effective communication plan with bedside nurses/PCTs to address changes in patient condition. Follow the organization’s chain of command in appropriate circumstances. Demonstrate understanding of patient multisystem complications, identifying and reporting abnormal findings to the appropriate physician in a timely manner and implementing nursing interventions. Collaborate with all members of the health‑care team, including physicians, in planning patient care and documenting accordingly. Clinical Support Perform virtual admissions, including history taking, medication reconciliation, and preferred pharmacy. Obtain and document a complete nursing admission assessment, considering physiological and psychological factors to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care within eight hours of admission. Deliver personalized patient education at admission and discharge using a telehealth platform. Conduct virtual rounding to assess patient needs and escalate concerns to the bedside nurse. Assess patient education needs on admission and daily. Assess psychosocial needs specific to the patient’s age, growth, and development. Technology Utilization Use EPIC EMR to document virtual interactions. Leverage virtual platform technology and real‑time communication tools. Act as a liaison between patients and the care team. Communicate with bedside RN, providers, and case managers as indicated. Promote patient safety and education through virtual support. Support bedside staff by co‑signing admission/discharge documentation as required. Participate in medication reconciliation, safety checks, and patient teaching through the virtual platform. Provide individualized instructions each shift to patient/significant other regarding the plan of care. Demonstrate safe and correct use of unit‑specific equipment (virtual platform). Perform discharge education and instructions via secure video, ensuring patient/family comprehension and addressing questions. Evaluation Document/report patient responses or outcomes resulting from nursing interventions, treatments/procedures, interpersonal interactions, and patient/family education. Professional and Staff Development Obtain 100% of mandatory hospital and unit‑specific in‑services annually, prior to evaluation date. Plan, present, and document unit in‑service as required by level. Document competency in clinical skills annually. Attend staff meetings as required. Use established lines of communication for resolution of problems and interpersonal conflict.
