Real Estate Attorney (Remote Role Based in Seattle)

Latitude is partnering with a well-established company with a significant multi-state retail real estate portfolio to engage an experienced Real Estate Attorney to support its expanding retail operations. This engagement will begin on a part-time basis, with the potential to grow into a full-time role for the right candidate.The company manages a substantial national retail portfolio and is actively involved in high-volume leasing, portfolio optimization, relocations, remodels, and strategic site development. In this role, you will serve as a trusted legal advisor, partnering closely with the real estate and business teams to negotiate and draft retail leases, amendments, and related real estate agreements while providing practical, business-focused guidance that helps drive transactions forward.The ideal candidate must have substantial experience with commercial real estate leasing, with retail leasing experience strongly preferred. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, exercise sound commercial judgment, and are able to deliver clear, pragmatic legal advice that supports business objectives while effectively managing risk. Experience advising on construction-related matters is a plus.While the position is primarily remote, occasional on-site work at the client's Seattle office may be required. The position also offers a strong opportunity to expand into a full-time role as business needs continue to grow.Key Responsibilities:Partner closely with the company's in-house real estate attorney and leasing teams to provide practical legal guidance on lease negotiations, portfolio management, and risk mitigation.Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of retail and commercial leases, amendments, renewals, and related real estate agreements.Lead and support lease negotiations with landlords, tenants, brokers, vendors, and outside counsel to drive timely, business-focused outcomes.Draft and negotiate CCR amendments, easements, reciprocal easement agreements, and other recorded property documents affecting retail assets.Review and enhance lease templates, playbooks, and standard forms to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across the real estate portfolio.Support leasing operations by preparing and reviewing lease abstracts, tracking critical dates, and maintaining organized lease documentation.Assist with retail acquisitions by conducting lease due diligence, preparing legal abstracts, and identifying key legal and business risks.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including real estate, construction, facilities, and business leaders, to support strategic real estate initiatives.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.5–10+ years of commercial real estate experience, including significant experience negotiating retail leases.Experience supporting retail or multi-site commercial portfolios, including leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and ongoing asset management.Experience with financing transactions and construction-related real estate matters is a plus.Excellent drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal issues into practical business advice.Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across legal and business teams.Position Details:Engagement Type: Engagement (Potential Temp-to-Perm)Schedule: Part-time initially, with the opportunity to transition to full-time based on business needs.Location: Mostly remote but candidates must be able to work from the client's Seattle office from time to time as needed.Compensation:Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $180, 000 to $225,000+ when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage.
