Job Description

This role focuses on repairing, assembling, and troubleshooting aircraft captain chairs and associated seating components within a dedicated repair section. You will work hands-on with A320 pilot seats, using mechanical and basic electrical skills to diagnose issues, perform bench-level repairs, and ensure that seating units meet quality and safety standards. The position starts as a contract role with a strong opportunity to transition to permanent employment based on attitude and performance.

Responsibilities

• Repair and assemble aircraft captain chairs, seating parts, and complete seating units with a focus on A320 pilot seats.

• Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues on seating components using bench technician practices and appropriate test equipment.

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to perform accurate repairs and assemblies.

• Use tools such as oscilloscopes and other bench test equipment to diagnose component performance and verify repairs.

• Work independently in a back-shop cell environment once fully trained, managing assigned tasks and meeting production goals.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow established repair station procedures and documentation requirements.

• Handle and care for personal basic hand tools, ensuring they are available and in good working condition for daily tasks.

• Follow all applicable safety, quality, and compliance standards, including those required in an FAA-regulated repair station.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize work, address technical issues, and support continuous improvement in repair processes.

• Support overtime needs as required by business demands when requested.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of mechanical experience in an assembly, repair, or maintenance environment.

• Strong mechanical background with proven hands-on experience working with mechanical components.

• Experience performing bench-level troubleshooting and repair work.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.

• Basic electrical troubleshooting skills suitable for bench technician work.

• Ability to use test equipment such as an oscilloscope for diagnostic purposes.

• Capability to work independently after training in a cell or back-shop environment.

• Ability to provide and use personal basic hand tools for daily work.

• Ability to submit to an FAA drug test as required for compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Aviation industry experience, particularly in aircraft seating or components, is preferred.

• Prior experience in an aircraft maintenance, repair, or overhaul environment is beneficial.

• Familiarity with ground support test equipment and airline service program processes is an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in a regulated environment.

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to established repair station procedures.

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic, which can support transition from contract to permanent employment.

Work Environment

This position is based in an air-conditioned aircraft repair station set up as a back-shop or cell environment. You will work at a bench with mechanical and electrical test equipment, focusing on detailed repair and assembly tasks. After initial training, you are expected to work independently, managing your own workflow within the cell. The schedule follows a first shift from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime available as needed but not guaranteed. You will use your own basic hand tools and operate within an FAA-regulated facility that emphasizes safety, quality, and compliance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
