Salary: $65,000-$85,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities

About the Company

Our client is an established commercial painting contractor completing approximately $2-$4 million in annual painting projects across the Austin, San Marcos, and Georgetown, Texas markets. The company serves both public and private commercial clients.

The current owner and manager is preparing to transition into retirement and is seeking a motivated professional who can take on increasing responsibility for estimating, business development, and project management, with the potential for an ownership opportunity after two years of proven success.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit competitive bids for commercial painting projects.

• Review construction plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate estimates and quantity takeoffs.

• Develop and maintain relationships with General Contractors, clients, and other industry professionals to generate new business.

• Identify commercial painting opportunities and actively pursue new contracts.

• Manage projects from award through completion, ensuring work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.

• Coordinate subcontractors, painting crews, materials, scheduling, and other project resources.

• Monitor project costs, labor, materials, change orders, and profit margins.

• Address day-to-day project challenges and resolve issues involving clients, crews, suppliers, and schedules.

• Communicate regularly with clients and General Contractors to maintain strong working relationships.

• Take ownership of estimating, project management, and business development responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Performance Expectations

The successful candidate will be expected to meet the following individual production targets:

• Monthly bidding volume: Minimum of $1,000,000 in personally prepared bids.

• Annual contract awards: Minimum of $1,000,000 in personally secured contracts per year.

• Annual profit contribution: Minimum of $250,000 in personally generated project profit per year.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of construction estimating experience.

• Strong understanding of construction estimating, project coordination, and cost management.

• Experience preparing estimates, reviewing plans, and calculating project quantities and costs.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working with a small, high-performing team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial painting or commercial construction.

• Familiarity with On Center or On-Screen Takeoff estimating software.

• Experience working with General Contractors in the Austin, Houston, or Dallas markets, particularly Austin.

• Established relationships within the commercial construction industry.

• A college degree in Construction Management, Business, Accounting, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $65,000-$85,000 per year.
