Manual Machinist

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join a dynamic, fast-paced aftermarket service center. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform complete repairs on customer equipment while supporting team goals related to environmental health and safety, quality, on-time delivery, operating costs, and productivity.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual mills and lathes efficiently, carefully, and accurately
  • Operate a horizontal boring mill on a wide variety of diversified work
  • Lay out work and produce quality parts
  • Interpret sketches, blueprints, and engineering details
  • Assist in establishing setup and layout methods, order of operations, and the application of required parts and materials
  • Complete jobs from raw materials through finished products using drawings, sketches, samples, or verbal instructions
  • Sharpen, rework, reset, and repair cutting tools
  • Inspect and verify parts during production
  • Maintain accurate production records and job histories
  • Perform minor machine maintenance activities
  • Assist with setting up complex machines
  • Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished products
  • Work at different workstations as production requirements dictate
  • Operate manual and automated cleaning equipment
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of relevant experience required
  • Three or more years of machining experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience setting up and operating manual mills and lathes
  • Extensive knowledge of machine applications and manufacturing materials
  • Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering documentation
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and resolve complex issues
  • Willingness to learn established machining and safety procedures
  • Horizontal boring mill experience strongly preferred
  • Reciprocating compressor experience is a plus but not required
  • Candidates with CNC machining backgrounds are encouraged to apply, provided they are comfortable operating manual equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements, including wearing required personal protective equipment
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls
  • Reach overhead
  • Work for extended periods while standing, stooping, bending, sitting, kneeling, or squatting
  • Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment as required
  • Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday
