Manual Machinist
We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join a dynamic, fast-paced aftermarket service center. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform complete repairs on customer equipment while supporting team goals related to environmental health and safety, quality, on-time delivery, operating costs, and productivity.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes efficiently, carefully, and accurately
- Operate a horizontal boring mill on a wide variety of diversified work
- Lay out work and produce quality parts
- Interpret sketches, blueprints, and engineering details
- Assist in establishing setup and layout methods, order of operations, and the application of required parts and materials
- Complete jobs from raw materials through finished products using drawings, sketches, samples, or verbal instructions
- Sharpen, rework, reset, and repair cutting tools
- Inspect and verify parts during production
- Maintain accurate production records and job histories
- Perform minor machine maintenance activities
- Assist with setting up complex machines
- Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished products
- Work at different workstations as production requirements dictate
- Operate manual and automated cleaning equipment
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Two to three years of relevant experience required
- Three or more years of machining experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience setting up and operating manual mills and lathes
- Extensive knowledge of machine applications and manufacturing materials
- Advanced knowledge of shop mathematics
- Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering documentation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and resolve complex issues
- Willingness to learn established machining and safety procedures
- Horizontal boring mill experience strongly preferred
- Reciprocating compressor experience is a plus but not required
- Candidates with CNC machining backgrounds are encouraged to apply, provided they are comfortable operating manual equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements, including wearing required personal protective equipment
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls
- Reach overhead
- Work for extended periods while standing, stooping, bending, sitting, kneeling, or squatting
- Lift, pull, and push materials and equipment as required
- Frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds throughout the workday
