Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Plano West location of the Medical Oncology department. This full‑time position is Monday‑Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:0 p.m. with no weekends, calls, or major holidays. What the Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) Does Under general supervision, the RN provides professional nursing care in accordance with national and company standards and guidelines. The RN recognizes physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care, participates in quality initiatives, and supports the US Oncology Compliance Program. Responsibilities Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care. Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart. Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart. Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team, coordinating services related to patient care. Assist patients in locating available community resources. Collaborate professionally with interprofessional team members. Serve as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Qualifications Education/Training – Level I Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Maintain continuing education requirements. 0–3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred. Level II Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred. Level Senior Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred. Oncology certification preferred. Working Conditions This position involves work in a clinical oncology/hematology environment with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Physical Requirements Requires a full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
