Registered Nurse Medical Unit Full Time Night Shift

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult C Unit Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA Shift & Scheduling Work Shift: Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Preferred: Nurses with 3+ years of experience, eligible to work every 3rd weekend and every other holiday. Compensation The pay range for this position is listed below. This position may be eligible for a Sign On Bonus up to $15,000. About the Unit The Adult C Unit is a 26‑bed structured, therapeutic environment for adults. The unit supports patients to understand their diagnosis, develop Crisis Response Plans, use healthy coping skills, and achieve treatment goals. Unit Highlights One RN per 7‑8 patient ratio. Flexible scheduling program. Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and delivering physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Develop and communicate nursing care plans, objectives, and interventions to the healthcare team. Maintain safe, secure, and healthy patient care environments by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled‑substance regulations. Document patient care services in patient and department records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical standards. Support patient education, teaching patients, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Evaluate care objectives and modify nursing plans based on therapeutic standards and health outcomes. Coordinate with other healthcare providers and facilitate effective communication across the multidisciplinary team. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license with the state board of nursing, active license upon hire. Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health settings. Demonstrated ability to apply Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and social principles to patient care. Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical‑thinking skills.
