Head Coach, Volleyball

Job Description Responsible for the overall organization, coaching, instruction, supervision, and administration of an NCAA Division III Volleyball program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coaching, instructing, and mentoring student‑athletes in the rules, fundamentals, and team concepts of volleyball. Provide a positive student‑athlete experience for all participants of the volleyball program. Planning, organizing, and coaching student‑athletes in practice and contest situations. Recruit talented and qualified student‑athletes within the rules and principles of the NCAA and University while engaging in retention efforts. Engage in fundraising and alumni relations responsibilities. Engage in community service events in efforts for building stronger community relationships. Exhibit the highest degree of good sportsmanship and professionalism, at all times. Other Duties and Responsibilities Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches within your program. Work closely with internal support personnel, including Office Coordinator, Athletic Trainers, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Director of Athletic Communications, Compliance Officers, and Game Management personnel, in the performance of their duties. Game management duties, as assigned. Pursue camp and clinic opportunities to recruit future student‑athletes and raise regional awareness of the institution. Exhibit fiscal responsibility in managing, overseeing, and reconciling athletic program budgets, including p‑card transactions. Monitor and promote exceptional academic progress of team members. Attend all departmental meetings, designated events, and admissions open houses as requested. Attend conference scheduling meetings as requested by the Director of Athletics. Must adhere to all NCAA/NEWMAC/Salve Regina University rules and regulations. Ensure compliance by all student‑athletes, staff, and assistant coaches with NCAA, University, and conference rules. Report violations to the Compliance Office and cooperate in investigations. Licenses, Tools, and Equipment Valid driver's license in good standing. Current CPR, AED, and First‑Aid certifications. Environmental Conditions Incumbent is subject to both inside and outside work conditions and may encounter extreme weather. Requirements Required: Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of coaching and related administrative experience. Highly developed communication and organizational skills, computer proficiency, and self‑motivation. Promote and foster an inclusive environment supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Work effectively in an academically demanding institution and comply with NCAA Division III, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference, and Salve Regina University policies. Knowledge and ability to learn technology applications (e.g., film breakdown, exchange) applicable to the position. Preferred: Master’s degree and more than five years of coaching and instruction experience. A strong foundation in volleyball rules as a player or coach and a full appreciation of NCAA rules and regulations.
