Job Summary:
A Surgical Medical Care Center Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Evansville, Indiana. This role requires providing patient care on a 41-bed unit focused on post-surgical patients including whipples, vascular, pre/post heart catheterizations, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, and open belly surgeries, as well as patients with conditions such as dementia, altered mental status, detox, and fall risks. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, minimum of 48 hours per week, with guaranteed hours of 36 and flexibility to accept 48 upon request
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, Associate Degree or Certificate, two years of strong Medical-Surgical (MS) experience, one travel assignment, trauma level II experience, recent EPIC charting experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience involving PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, Central Line (CBI), stables drips (heparin, lasix, protonix), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, tele-interpretation, wound care with packing, wound vacs, dressing changes, pre/post heart cath procedures (Femoral/TRA bands/no interventions), strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Unit Information: The unit features a great teamwork environment, helpful charge nurses, experienced patient care technicians, and a positive unit culture. Scrub color is navy blue with no competing health system or agency logos.
• Float Requirements: First to float within skillset, cross-campus float possible with 2 hours' notice, and mid-shift float within the same campus. Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible.
• On Call/Call Back Requirements: Not applicable
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule and every other holiday.
