First Responder / Ambulance Driver

General Summary Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and transports the patient to the appropriate treatment or medical facility in the role of First Responder. Duties and Responsibilities Provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance operations in conjunction with a partner, demonstrates excellent driving judgment and regard for public safety during operation and positioning of unit. Responds to all assigned calls in the most appropriate, safe and efficient manner to quickly assess the scene and request any other help if needed. Assist in BLS patient care in accordance with established procedures and prescribed local protocols and clinical practices. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of current EMS standards of care, including equipment function and use. Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment. Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS Representatives, hospitals and public. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of local geography, including mapping, street, and grid book systems. Maintains units and equipment in a clean, organized and ready condition after each response. Ensures proper fuel, fluid, and tire pressure levels at all times. Reports equipment damage or malfunctions as prescribed. Completes all station duties and maintains crew quarters in lean conditions. Maintaining a clean and complete uniform, personal hygiene, and professional, pleasant and polite demeanor to all persons with whom the individual comes in contact with while on duty. Assist in lifting, carrying, and properly loading of patient into the ambulance, and may provide transport to a medical facility. Other duties as assigned. Must be at least 21 years of age. Hold a valid Florida driver license for a minimum of 3 years. Less than 3 points on driver license. Working knowledge of the English language. Good geographical knowledge of Miami-Dade County. Good geographical awareness of Broward County. No violent crimes, grand theft, crimes against minors or elderly, no felonies. Must be available to work any available shifts including nights, weekends, holidays. Must be prepared for bouts of lengthy driving. Starting Pay: $12.00 per hour Licenses and Certifications (must be valid, current and/or in good standing) Valid Florida Driver’s License minimum 3 years (Clean Driving Record) Will offer training for First Aid CPR and AED Certification for Adult, Child and Infant (American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuers) Will offer training for Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC Competency in First Responder skills as defined by State, Medical Director(s) and Medical Standard.
