Major Duties of the Position: Provide quality outpatient anesthesia services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran population. Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients undergoing outpatient procedures. Administer various types of anesthetics (general, regional, and local) to patients undergoing outpatient procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Monitor patients vital signs during procedures, and manage their post-anesthesia recovery throughout the outpatient setting. Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care. Manage pain control and provide consultative services for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain in the outpatient setting. Participate in the development and implementation of anesthesia policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care. Teach and mentor nursing students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine. Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research.
