Manufacturing Supervisor II - Blood Typing Solutions - Variable Shift

Summary The Manufacturing Supervisor II is responsible for overseeing a Manufacturing department’s day‑to‑day operations to ensure products are manufactured within cGMP, safety regulations, and company policies and procedures. The role reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is located onsite in San Diego, CA. At this level, assignments and problem‑solving techniques are at a moderate to high level of complexity. The supervisor serves as a subject‑matter expert within the Immunohematology manufacturing area. Shift: variable – candidates must be open to variable shifts. Primary Responsibilities Perform the duties defined in the Manufacturing Supervisor level position. Lead process/product troubleshooting to correct or maintain desirable process parameters. Act as the initial point of contact for partner groups (e.g., Maintenance, Quality, Tech Doc Support) and research and address process deviations and documentation errors. Manage the balance between technical and management issues using multiple skill sets (analyzing, evaluating, creating, reasoning) and meet changing priorities. Develop alternative solutions to problems and handle moderate problems independently. Serve as SME within the assigned Manufacturing area – Immunohematology. Oversee Immunohematology manufacturing responsibilities and maintain business continuity for Blood Typing Solutions in San Diego (processes, product lines, controlled environments). Be available to support and interface with all three shifts to maintain full operational coverage and alignment. Apply knowledge of diagnostics manufacturing processes, including regulated environments (FDA/ISO 13485), quality systems, and reagent/material workflows. Utilize production machinery and manage Gel Cards/RRBC performance metrics (KPIs), including equipment operation, troubleshooting, and throughput optimization. Exhibit strong organizational, planning, and workflow‑management capabilities to coordinate resources, SAP transactions, materials, documentation, and shift execution. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Lead teams and promote a positive, thriving team environment. Diagnose and troubleshoot process-related matters, providing sound solutions. Maintain working knowledge of Immunohematology processes and demonstrate independent decision‑making ability. Show demonstrated experience at a supervisory level managing timelines and processes, establishing priorities, setting goals for the team, driving accountability, and meeting deliverables. Education and Experience BA/BS degree plus 3 years of supervisory experience. Master’s degree plus 1 year of supervisory experience. Prior direct experience managing immunohematology processes is highly preferred. Prior experience with immunohematology or similar biological‑based production is required. Equivalency Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. For example: if a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience. Compensation & Benefits The estimated pay scale for the Manufacturing Supervisor II role based in San Diego, California is $96,767.90 to $145,150.70 per year. The position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, up to 5% 401(k) match, and tuition reimbursement. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skill set, knowledge, and market data.
