Job Details Job ID: 5708165 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 12, 2026 7:00 PM (UTC) Job Description ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Director of Communications leads the development and execution of a clear, proactive, and strategic communications system that advances the district's vision, builds stakeholder trust, and supports improved student outcomes. This role oversees all internal and external communications, including media relations, marketing, digital platforms, and community engagement. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or related field required. Master's degree in communications, public administration, education administration, public policy, or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, business/marketing, or administration, preferably in a school district, government agency, or large organization. Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing organizational change, and executing strategic communications plans. Proven track record of developing and implementing communication strategies to support organizational priorities. Strong commitment to equity and culturally responsive communication. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Communications Leadership Develop and implement district-wide communications strategy. Provide strategic communications counsel to Superintendent. Maintain consistent district messaging and branding. Monitor effectiveness and adjust strategy. 2. Internal Communications Ensure clear and consistent communication with staff. Communicate rationale behind district decisions. Establish feedback systems for staff input. Provide training on communication practices. 3. External Communications Manage media relations. Communicate district priorities to community. Ensure translation and culturally responsive outreach. Serve as district spokesperson. 4. Marketing and Digital Communications Oversee website and social media platforms. Develop marketing campaigns aligned to priorities. Ensure consistency across publications. 5. Crisis Communications Develop crisis communication plans. Train staff on crisis protocols. Serve as Public Information Officer during emergencies. 6. Collaboration Align communication across departments. Support recruitment communications. Lead cross-functional projects. 7. Additional Areas of Support Assist HR in recruitment job fairs and social media communication. Partner with Career and Technology Education in recruiting partners. Work with Education Foundation and other organizations to build relationships with area businesses and community partners. Raise public awareness of the Education Foundation and district via presentations, publications, and special programs. Develop marketing programs and events to solicit donors and partners. Promote community engagement through positive public relations. Prepare and provide information to the public about district activities, goals, and policies.
