Physician Assistant - Surgery

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center and accredited Stroke Center, delivering advanced surgical care for patients with complex and rare conditions. Join our collaborative team of advanced practice providers across Surgical ICU, ENT, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Trauma.


Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed physical exams and comprehensive patient assessments
• Diagnose, order medications, and implement individualized care plans
• Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice
• Participate in daily rounds and family meetings
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and care teams to optimize patient care
• Educate patients and caregivers on health management and treatment plans
• Provide consultation to nursing and ancillary staff on patient condition and care plans
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation of patient histories, exams, and progress notes
• Adhere to clinical protocols, hospital policies, and patient safety standards
• Maintain competency in clinical privileges and complete mandatory training

Critical Requirement:


Candidates must be flexible 37.5 hours/week and available for 1-2 weekend days per month.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited PA program.
• Current NYS PA License NCCPA certification (for PAs)
• Current BLS & ACLS certifications required.
• Prior surgical experience required
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and patient-centered care focus
