Project Manager - Substation (Fort Worth, TX)

Our client is a nationally recognized engineering, construction, and consulting firm experiencing significant growth within its Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business across North Texas. Due to continued expansion and a strong project backlog, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead substation projects, support key utility clients, and help drive the growth and development of the regional team.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of substation design expertise, project management experience, and leadership capabilities . This individual will oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk management while ensuring successful project execution from conception through completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage substation engineering and design projects.
• Maintain accountability for project financial performance, schedules, scope, and deliverables.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for utility and power delivery clients.
• Conduct quality reviews for physical and protection & control (P&C) substation designs as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams across multiple offices.
• Mentor junior project managers and technical staff to support professional development.
• Support recruiting, retention, and growth initiatives within the engineering team.
• Help strengthen existing client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7+ years of engineering design and project management experience within the power delivery or substation industry.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, scope, and risk.
• Ability to influence teams, drive results, and lead through change.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of engineering design and project management experience.
• PMP certification and/or advanced degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Experience supporting utility, transmission, and distribution projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $85.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
