Position Overview
Our veterinary clinic in Southport, CT is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Clerk to join our team. This role will support the day-to-day financial operations of the clinic, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and recordkeeping. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative and accounting skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable invoices and prepare payments
- Manage accounts receivable, including patient billing and collections follow-up
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and financial records
- Maintain accurate financial and accounting documentation
- Assist with month-end closing activities and reporting
- Enter and update accounting data within accounting software systems
- Prepare deposits and track incoming payments
- Support payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements as needed
- Respond to client billing inquiries professionally and accurately
- Collaborate with clinic management to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
- Assist with general administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- 1+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience in a healthcare, medical, or veterinary setting is a plus
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Standard business hours
- Contract-to-hire opportunity available
