Safety Manager

We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs for commercial mechanical construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring OSHA compliance, reducing workplace risks, conducting safety training, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture across multiple active job sites. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial or industrial construction and a strong understanding of mechanical construction safety practices. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage company-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements. Conduct routine jobsite inspections, safety audits, and documented observations. Support pre-task planning by reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety plans, and risk assessments. Lead incident and near-miss investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Promote safe work practices for fall protection, scaffolding, ladders, hot work, confined spaces, electrical safety, rigging, material handling, trenching, excavation, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Deliver safety orientation and ongoing training for employees, subcontractors, and contractors. Maintain safety records, training documentation, audit reports, permits, and regulatory compliance documentation. Review lift plans, hot work permits, JHAs, Task Hazard Analyses (THAs), and other pre-job safety documentation. Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and Estimators to integrate safety into project planning and execution. Monitor safety performance metrics and present reports to management. Coordinate with clients, general contractors, and site representatives to ensure compliance with project-specific safety requirements. Travel to active project sites as required to provide field safety support and leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. OSHA 30 certification. 5–10 years of progressive EHS or construction safety experience in commercial or industrial construction. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and their practical application on construction sites. Experience conducting incident investigations, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions. Demonstrated leadership experience coaching field personnel and promoting accountability. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Ability to travel to project locations as needed. Ability to pass a drug screening and federal background check. Preferred Qualifications Professional safety certifications such as CHST, CSP, STSC, OSHA Authorized Trainer, or equivalent. Experience supporting multi-trade commercial construction projects. Experience working in occupied facilities or around active building systems. Familiarity with Safety Management System (SMS) frameworks and continuous improvement processes. Work is performed on active commercial construction sites with exposure to changing weather conditions, lifting operations, heavy equipment, and high-noise environments.
