Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a Medical Surgical Acute Care setting provides direct patient care under supervision, assisting with daily living activities, clinical tasks, and supporting nursing staff in a critical access hospital environment. The role demands acute care experience, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and positioning.
• Perform routine clinical tasks such as vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and basic wound care.
• Support nursing staff with patient assessments, treatments, and emergency procedures as delegated.
• Maintain patient environment by changing linens, cleaning equipment, and preparing rooms for admissions and discharges.
• Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records.
• Communicate patient status and changes to licensed nursing staff promptly.
• Assist with transporting patients and preparing them for diagnostic tests.
• Float within scope to acute care, inpatient, swing bed, and observation units as needed.

• Valid Alaska CNA License.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Alaska Food Handler's Card.
• Minimum one year of acute care experience.
• Ability to work effectively in an acute care hospital environment.

• Experience in critical access hospital settings.
• Familiarity with electronic charting systems such as ECS.
• Flexibility to float between multiple care units.

• Position does not require on-call duties.
• Floating to various units within scope of practice is expected.
• Travelers must be willing and able to work holidays as needed.
• Limited Return to Office (RTO) allowed: no more than 2 weeks for a 26-week contract.
• Local candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
• Free parking and shuttle transportation provided at contract start and end.

• Shift options include 4x12 or 3x12 hour night shifts.
• Guaranteed minimum of 72 hours per two-week pay period.
• Block scheduling accommodation not available.
• Travel assignment duration options of 13 or 26 weeks.
