About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years Med/Tele RN experience preferred License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset Description: This position involves working in a 36-bed unit focused on enhanced recovery after surgery. The facility is a Level I Trauma Teaching Client and offers various services including a chest pain center and stroke center. Patients may experience complex gastrointestinal surgeries such as colectomies, bowel resections, and liver resections. The RN to patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6, with potential increases during surge staffing. Experience managing standard telemetry patients is required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and medication drip management. Nurses may be required to float to other facilities within the region as needed, while staying within their scope of practice. Support staff includes charge nurses, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7. The electronic medical record system utilized is EPIC, and IV pumps and medication dispensing systems are also in use. Travelers will be expected to work every other weekend and 75% of holidays. Requesting time off is allowed up to 6 days, excluding holidays, with the requirement to extend the contract duration if necessary. Scrub color is navy.
