Commercial HVAC Field Diagnostics Technician

Location: Mobile, AL

Schedule: Full-time, typically five 8-hour days with significant overtime available

Compensation: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience + overtime (OT paid at 1.5x)

A Day in the Life

You start your morning with a clear route and a stocked company vehicle. The first stop is a rooftop unit that isn’t keeping up—within minutes, you’ve isolated a control issue, documented your findings, and communicated the repair plan to the customer and your service team. By mid-day, you’ve completed preventive maintenance on a couple of air-cooled systems, identified a failing contactor, and scheduled a follow-up install. The afternoon brings a refrigeration-related call; you verify charge, consult schematics, and bring the system back online. You wrap up by updating work orders and confirming tomorrow’s assignments. Throughout the day, you work independently, knowing your Service Manager and office team are just a call away.

What You’ll Tackle

• Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues
• Perform repairs and occasional installations as needed
• Make independent, sound repair decisions in the field
• Communicate clearly with customers and the service team about equipment status and recommended work
• Complete preventive maintenance safely, efficiently, and on schedule

What You Bring

• Hands-on HVAC service and repair experience with solid troubleshooting skills
• Comfort working independently in the field
• Valid driver’s license
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling
• Basic personal hand tools
• Reliable attendance and follow-through
• Commercial HVAC background preferred; experienced residential techs with strong air-cooled knowledge who can transition quickly are welcome
• Helpful extras: experience with boilers, water-cooled equipment, building automation, refrigeration, schematics, or mechanical drawings (training available to close gaps)
