Endoscopy Tech / Medical Assistant - Gastroenterology - SRS - Variable Shift - Full Time

Hours: Shift Start Time: Variable Shift End Time: Variable AWS Hours Requirement: 8/40 - 8 Hour Shift Additional Shift Information: Weekend Requirements: As Needed On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $26.130 - $32.670 - $36.590 What You Will Do The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for performing a variety of direct patient care activities and assisting with endoscopic procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Gastroenterologist. Responsibilities include assisting patients, staff, and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of operational efficiency, managing patient data through transcription and documentation, and providing customer service while delivering quality care. Equipment Maintenance Accurately provides high‑level disinfection of all endoscopes and washers in accordance with ASGE, manufacturer guidelines, and Sharp policy. Maintains a quality logbook for regulatory compliance, monitored through observation and QA audits. Department Efficiency and Effectiveness Organizes and completes daily requirements within time frames, ensures optimal workflow by assisting in patient transfers, fosters efficient turnaround of rooms, maintains equipment and supplies, and participates in inventories and site inspections. Responds to changing circumstances and prioritizes patient needs. Telephone Message Management Ensures prompt and efficient return of messages per policy, troubleshoots and resolves problem calls, enters authorizations, and schedules surgeries and procedures accurately. Patient Care Performs patient care activities under direct supervision, assists the gastroenterologist during procedures, provides medications safely, prepares patients for examination, obtains consent, labels biopsies, documents care per protocol, and collaborates with physicians to enhance clinical knowledge. Uses universal precautions and infection control policies. Professional Development Participates in competency training and in‑service education, assists in teaching new staff, orients staff to the technician role, and updates knowledge regularly through ASGE standards. Specimens Obtains tissue specimens, brushings, and washings, verifies labeling, documents specimens in the logbook, and transports them to the laboratory under supervision. Required Qualifications H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 1 Year Medical Assistant experience in a related clinical area AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – required Certificate of completion of ASGE Endoscopy Technician training program within 90 days of hire (required) Preferred Qualifications 1 Year endoscopy lab experience Sharp HealthCare is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
