Accounting & Payroll Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting & Payroll Specialist to support multi-state payroll administration and day-to-day accounting operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting core accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end activities. Responsibilities: Payroll Administration Prepare payroll-related journal entries and payroll reconciliations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Support payroll tax reporting, year-end processing, and W-2 preparation. Maintain accurate payroll information within payroll, HRIS, and ERP systems. Handle off-cycle payrolls, manual checks, and payroll corrections as needed. Process full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple states and locations. Process garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and employee benefit deductions. Review and validate employee time records, payroll adjustments, deductions, and related data. Accounting Support Prepare and post journal entries. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting. Assist with general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations. Partner with Finance and HR teams to ensure accurate financial and payroll records. Qualifications (Must-Haves) High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 3 years of multi-state payroll experience. Experience independently managing full-cycle payroll. Minimum 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience. Proficiency with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Excel. Experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance requirements. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Preferred Skills: Exposure to ERP systems. AP/AR and month-end close experience. Experience supporting multi-location organizations. Manufacturing or industrial environment experience is a plus.
