Cost Accountant IICONMED has an outstanding opportunity for a Cost Accountant II to contribute to the success of a global medical device company. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in cost accounting, inventory analysis, and financial reporting.This position plays a critical role in leading accounting activities across the inventory cycle—including product costing, valuation, financial analysis, and internal controls—while partnering cross-functionally to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and informed decision-making.This role is based in Utica, NY.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and monitor product costing, including calculating and updating standard costs and supporting budgeting activitiesLead month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliationsAnalyze and reconcile inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completenessPrepare variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and present findings to leadershipAssist with inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventory processesAnalyze and close work orders, ensuring accurate cost allocation and reportingSupport fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation/amortization, and capital trackingEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting, providing required analysis, schedules, and documentationCollaborate with finance, operations, and supply chain teams to improve processes, data quality, and reporting efficiencyParticipate in cross-functional projects and process enhancements across accounting and operationsKey SkillsStrong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication and collaboration across functionsSolid understanding of cost accounting, inventory processes, and financial controlsRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2+ years of accounting or cost accounting experience with month-end and year-end close processesPreferred Experience:Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Access, Word, PowerPoint a plus)Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MANMAN or Oracle)Familiarity with SQL and/or Power BIExperience in manufacturing or lean environmentsExpected Travel 0-20%This position is not eligible for employer-visa sponsorshipDisclosure as required by applicable law, the annual salary range for this position is $70,480- $109,768.
