R&D Director

Becton Dickinson seeks an R&D Director to lead engineering research and development for the Oncology Platform, overseeing new product development and design modifications. The role requires directing specialized teams, managing budgets, and collaborating across functional areas to support business growth and compliance objectives.

Responsibilities

• Direct R&D programs and objectives for Oncology product platform in alignment with VP and leadership team strategy
• Oversee project execution ensuring adherence to scientific principles, specifications, and quality standards
• Evaluate product designs, manufacturing feasibility, costs, and market potential with regulatory considerations
• Manage team performance, succession planning, and resource allocation to meet business objectives
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, and Marketing to ensure compliance and market alignment

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering; advanced degree preferred
• 15-20 years industrial R&D or process development experience in medical device or FDA-regulated environments
• Demonstrated leadership managing teams of 5-10+ engineers and technicians
• Proven project management and new product development success with commercial outcomes
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and interpersonal skills across organizational levels
• Technical expertise, patent/publication record, or relevant certifications valued
