Managing Director, Originations & Private Lending (Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area)

Macdonald & Company are partnered with a privately held real estate investment platform with a dedicated private lending business focused on short-term, first-lien residential real estate loans. The lending platform provides capital to real estate investors and developers, with a particular focus on bridge, fix-and-flip and residential construction loans secured by residential properties. The business has an established loan portfolio, existing borrower and broker relationships, and financing relationships already in place.

The firm is now looking to significantly scale this lending business and is seeking a senior executive to work directly with ownership to lead that growth. The mandate is specifically focused on the private lending platform, with three core priorities: materially increasing loan originations, raising additional capital from family offices, RIAs and private investors to fund the portfolio, and expanding warehouse and institutional financing capacity. This person will help connect each side of the business, ensuring the platform has both the capital and origination pipeline required to grow, while helping build the products, partnerships and commercial infrastructure needed to operate at a larger scale.

Responsibilities

• Drive loan originations across bridge, fix-and-flip, residential construction and other business-purpose residential lending products.
• Build and expand relationships with residential real estate investors, developers, mortgage and loan brokers, and other repeat referral sources.
• Develop new origination channels and strategic partnerships capable of generating consistent and scalable loan production.
• Raise capital specifically for the lending platform from family offices, RIAs, HNW/UHNW investors and other private capital sources.
• Develop relationships with banks, private credit funds and institutional financing partners to expand warehouse lines, credit facilities and other lender-finance capacity.
• Work with ownership to align available capital and financing capacity with the growth of the loan origination pipeline.
• Help expand the platform's borrower base, geographic reach and lending volume while maintaining disciplined credit standards.
• Identify opportunities to introduce complementary residential lending products as the platform grows.
• Work closely with underwriting and credit on loan structure, pricing, leverage and risk.
• Help develop the processes, systems, partnerships and team required to support a significantly larger lending operation.
• Work directly with ownership on the strategy and long-term growth of the private lending business.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience within business-purpose residential lending, private lending, real estate credit or a closely related specialty finance platform.
• Direct experience with bridge, fix-and-flip, residential construction, DSCR or other investor-focused residential lending products.
• Demonstrated track record of growing loan originations through borrower, broker, developer and intermediary relationships.
• Strong network within residential real estate lending with the ability to generate new lending opportunities.
• Experience personally raising capital from family offices, RIAs, HNW/UHNW investors and/or other private capital sources.
• Experience developing institutional financing relationships, ideally including warehouse facilities, credit lines, loan participations or similar lender-finance structures.
• Strong understanding of first-lien residential real estate credit, underwriting, loan structuring, pricing and portfolio risk.
• Experience helping build or materially scale a private lending or specialty finance platform.
• Commercial and entrepreneurial approach with the ability to operate across capital, originations and broader business growth.
• Comfortable working directly with ownership and taking significant responsibility for the growth of the platform.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, South Florida.
