Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Rockville, MD that is seeking a hybrid Senior Accountant for a contract-to-hire role.Summary:A mission-driven organization is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support daily accounting operations, month-end close, and audit readiness. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and taking ownership of their work.Responsibilities:

• Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close
• Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting schedules
• Review revenue data and coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Support accounts payable, payment processing, and expense review
• Prepare audit documentation, assist with 1099 reporting, and support internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and system workflows

This is an individual contributor position with no supervisory responsibilities. The role offers a hybrid schedule with two days onsite each week and the potential to transition into a permanent position. Candidates should be comfortable supporting year-end and audit deadlines. Direct-hire consideration may be available for the right candidate.

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA and nonprofit experience are helpful but not required
• At least 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including hands-on close and reconciliations
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred; Strong Dynamics SL experience will also be considered
• Excel proficiency, including pivot tables
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and independent problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively across departments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
