Director of Accounting

We are looking for an experienced Director of Accounting to lead financial operations for a commercial / retail property in Bloomington area. This role will oversee accounting accuracy, reporting, budgeting, and tenant-related financial activity while partnering with leadership to support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, effective team leadership, and a hands-on approach to improving processes and maintaining high service standards. If you are interested please reach out to Steve Cashman on LinkedIn or call Steve at View phone number on click.appcast.io.Responsibilities:• Lead the review and approval of journal entries, account coding, and key balance sheet and general ledger activity to ensure complete and accurate financial records.• Oversee the preparation and final sign-off of monthly financial statements before distribution to internal stakeholders and ownership groups.• Partner with the management team to develop annual budgets and ongoing forecasts that support operational and financial goals.• Supervise the integrity of tenant financial records by validating lease documentation and authorizing related billing transactions.• Evaluate existing accounting workflows, recommend practical improvements, and guide the team in adopting efficient procedures.• Coach and support staff through timely feedback, issue resolution, and consistent reinforcement of accounting policies and expectations.• Direct collection efforts by monitoring tenant receivables, addressing outstanding balances, and helping drive timely payment activity.• Manage the preparation of annual tax and reconciliation billings while ensuring supporting calculations are accurate and complete.• Serve as a visible leader within the facility by assisting with guest inquiries when needed and supporting a safe, well-maintained environment.
