Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• Connect with patients and families during triage, establishing priorities of care in accordance with Triage Standards.
• Conduct primary assessments, document deviations, and implement necessary interventions based on critical needs.
• Encourage trust and cooperation among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and treatments, ensuring understanding and retention of health education.
• Maintain awareness of patient's condition and needs throughout their ER visit, updating communication boards as needed.

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• New York State RN License
• Two years of acute hospital experience in an emergency department
