Location: Las Vegas, Nevada (on-site)

Employment Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience

Reports To: Production Manager

Position Summary

The Control Cabinet Builder assembles, lays out, wires, and inspects UL 508A industrial control cabinets and panels according to drawings, schematics, customer specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has prior panel-building experience and can work from a drawing package and bill of materials with limited supervision, including installing and wiring PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls. Builders with solid fundamentals who are ready to grow into more complex work are encouraged to apply. Strong attention to detail, clean workmanship, and a commitment to doing the job right the first time are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lay out control cabinets and panels using electrical drawings, schematics, and layout diagrams.
• Install components including terminal blocks, wire duct, DIN rail, breakers, fuse holders, relays, contactors, motor starters, VFDs, PLC hardware, power supplies, and other control devices.
• Perform point-to-point wiring, wire routing, labeling, and termination in a neat and organized manner, including both power and control wiring.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and customer specifications.
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards, UL 508A requirements, safety requirements, and applicable electrical practices.
• Inspect completed cabinets for accuracy, workmanship, wire management, proper labeling, and overall quality.
• Perform continuity checks and support functional testing of completed panels.
• Troubleshoot wiring issues and correct discrepancies before final inspection or shipment.
• Communicate material shortages, drawing issues, or build concerns to the supervisor or engineering team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to improve build quality, efficiency, and consistency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience building industrial control panels, control cabinets, or similar electrical assemblies.
• Familiarity with industrial control components such as relays, contactors, motor starters, VFDs, and PLC hardware. Programming is not required.
• Strong layout, wiring, routing, labeling, and termination skills across a range of wire gauges.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, panel layout drawings, and bills of material.
• Working knowledge of industrial control components and their proper installation.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, wire strippers, crimpers, torque tools, multimeters, and measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and clean workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production or shop environment.
• Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of panel-building experience. Pay is set within the posted range based on experience and demonstrated skill.
• Hands-on experience installing and wiring PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, and contactors.
• Experience in a UL 508A panel shop or familiarity with UL 508A panel-building practices.
• Experience building panels for fuel dispensing, petroleum, or other regulated environments.
• Experience performing functional testing and point-to-point checkout of completed panels.
• Basic understanding of NEC requirements as they apply to industrial control panels.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a shop and production environment assembling electrical cabinets and panels. The role requires standing for extended periods, frequent bending and reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, use of hand and power tools, and following established safety procedures and required personal protective equipment
