HR Generalist

BKF is seeking an HR Generalist to partner with our dynamic Human Resources team in fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing our employee experience. This role is responsible for independently managing a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-oriented, and passionate about supporting employees and business leaders. This position will report to our Pleasanton office with a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding and training. Responsibilities: Serve as a resource to employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, programs, and workplace matters. Provide guidance and support on routine to moderately complex employee relations matters, escalating sensitive or high-risk issues as appropriate. Partner with managers on performance management, coaching, employee development, corrective action, and performance improvement processes. Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding. Support annual HR programs and processes, including performance reviews, compensation and rewards cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and required training. Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, process employee changes, and ensure documentation complies with company standards and applicable requirements. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and support HR audits, reporting, and policy updates. Prepare and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support HR and business decision-making. Partner with HR team members and internal stakeholders to respond to employee inquiries and ensure the consistent delivery of HR programs and services. Prepare, review, and maintain HR documentation, including job descriptions, policies, procedures, and employee communications. Identify and recommend improvements to HR processes, programs, and the overall employee experience. Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or comparable HR role. Working knowledge of HR best practices and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws. Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, employee lifecycle processes, and HR program administration. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems. Experience in the AEC, consulting, or professional-services industry preferred. HR certification, such as PHR or SHRM-CP, is a plus. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information with discretion. Ability to travel to various BKF offices as needed. The typical base salary range for this position is $79,000 - $105,000 per year and may vary depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
