This is a contract job opportunity. Potential for permanent employment. Location: Albany, NY and area Schedule: M-F 6:30am-3:00pm, every other Saturday 7:00am-11:00am Projected duration: 3 months, with potential for permanent Job code: CVDJP00035251 Benefits are available. Float position. Candidates may travel to any of the following sites and may work an 8‑hour day at any time between 6:30am-5:30pm, with a 5‑hour day alternating Saturdays every two weeks from 7am-1pm. Position requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation. Potential Locations: Catskill, NY Schenectady, NY Cobleskill, NY Latham, NY Amsterdam, NY Guilderland, NY Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot, train, and make workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities: Experience with blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. Updating patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Properly explain the venipuncture or other specimen collection procedures in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles; fully understand all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct; package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate containers, accurately label, and follow protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications: Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required.
