About the Role This position blends HR coordination with paralegal style work, and it is built for someone who is organized, detail driven, and genuinely interested in employment law. You will work closely with our HR team, which is led by our General Counsel, preparing first drafts of employment documentation, running research on federal and multi state employment issues, managing schedules and deadlines, and helping our HR professionals deliver clear, well supported guidance to client companies. Keeping the team organized is central to the job. You will be the person who knows where every matter stands, what is due next, and what still needs a signature. Please note that this position does not involve the practice of law. All work is performed in support of, and under the review of, CHR's General Counsel and HR leadership. What You Will Do Prepare initial drafts of employment documentation, including offer letters, handbooks and policy language, job descriptions, disciplinary and separation documentation, performance improvement plans, accommodation and leave correspondence, and client facing summaries Conduct research on federal, state, and local employment law questions and summarize findings in clear, usable memos for the HR and legal teams Keep the HR team on schedule by managing calendars, client meetings, investigation interviews, training sessions, and compliance deadlines such as filings, notice postings, and policy renewal dates Maintain matter tracking and status reporting so leadership always has a current view of open items, owners, and due dates Work directly with HR professionals to gather facts, assemble background materials, and support the guidance delivered to clients Maintain organized, audit ready files and keep documentation current with changing regulations across the states we serve Track legislative and regulatory updates in the jurisdictions where our clients operate and flag items that require action Assist with onboarding and offboarding documentation, personnel record maintenance, and I-9 and employment eligibility recordkeeping Support ad hoc projects, including template builds, process documentation, internal audits, and client specific compliance initiatives Handle sensitive and confidential information with consistent discretion Assist HR Team in day-to-day HR administration tasks and projects What You Bring Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience Two or more years of experience in a human resources, legal, paralegal, or compliance support role Demonstrated ability to draft clear, accurate, professional documents with minimal rework Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort communicating with client contacts Working knowledge of employment law concepts and a willingness to keep learning Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines at once Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn HRIS and document management platforms quickly Ability to work independently on routine matters while knowing when to elevate Availability to occasionally adjust hours to meet client needs, with reasonable advance notice Preferred Qualifications Paralegal certificate or prior law firm, in house legal, or PEO / ASO experience Direct exposure to employment law matters such as wage and hour, leave administration, accommodations, or workplace investigations Legal research experience using tools such as Westlaw, Lexis, or similar platforms Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR, or progress toward one Experience with PrismHR or a comparable HRIS or payroll platform Familiarity with multi state employment compliance Working knowledge of 401(k) plan administration Professional fluency in Spanish, written and verbal, is a significant plus given the client populations we support Benefits Medical and dental coverage, 100 percent employer paid for the employee Vision coverage, employee paid Employer paid life insurance, AD&D, and long term disability Retirement plan with employer match Paid time off and paid holidays Ongoing professional development, including support toward HR or paralegal certification CHR is an equal opportunity employer.
