This role sits at the core of a high-scale IT operations platform, where you will design and evolve critical backend services that help manage millions of endpoints globally. You will work on complex, distributed systems built in Java, contributing to both new feature development and long-term platform scalability. The environment is fast-paced, engineering-driven, and focused on building reliable, high-performance software at enterprise scale. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, support, and infrastructure specialists to ensure system stability and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong ownership over technical design, architecture decisions, and implementation quality. Accountabilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend services in Java, with a focus on triggers, conditions, and event-driven platform capabilities.
• Build and enhance high-availability systems that support large-scale IT operations across global environments.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, ensuring systems are maintainable, performant, and aligned with long-term product strategy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, refine technical solutions, and deliver high-quality features.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting engineering best practices and code quality standards.
• Own technical initiatives end-to-end, from design through implementation, testing, and production delivery.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and drive improvements across distributed systems and backend services.

Requirements

This role requires extensive experience in backend engineering and large-scale distributed systems, with a strong foundation in Java development. Candidates should be comfortable working in complex environments where system design, performance, and reliability are critical. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for working across engineering and product teams.

• 10+ years of professional Java software development experience in product-focused environments
• 5+ years of experience designing and scaling highly distributed, high-availability systems
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns
• Experience with API design and RESTful services (e.g., Spring or Jersey frameworks)
• Solid understanding of relational databases and data modeling
• Experience with large-scale system architecture, including asynchronous processing and client-server models
• Familiarity with caching systems such as Redis (preferred)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical challenges
• Experience with quality assurance practices and building reliable production systems
