Senior Accountant

We are searching for a Senior Accountant to join our team.Position DescriptionThe Senior Accountant will be a key member of Oklo's accounting team, with primary responsibility for preparing and posting journal entries and completing timely, accurate account reconciliations as part of the monthly and quarterly close process. This role will own assigned close activities, investigate and resolve reconciling items, maintain clear supporting documentation, and help ensure the general ledger is complete and accurate. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet close and SEC reporting deadlines while partnering effectively with teams across the business.Specific responsibilities may include:Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries in NetSuite, including accruals, prepaids, allocations, reclassifications, and other month-end adjustmentsMaintain complete journal-entry support and ensure entries are accurate, appropriately approved, and posted within the close timelineComplete assigned balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations in FloQast and tie balances to the NetSuite general ledgerResearch, document, and resolve reconciling items and unusual account activity on a timely basisOwn assigned monthly and quarterly close tasks in FloQast and proactively communicate status, issues, and dependenciesRun and analyze NetSuite general ledger, trial balance, and transaction-detail reports to support close activities and account reconciliationsPrepare account roll-forwards, supporting schedules, and variance analyses for management and financial reporting reviewPartner with accounts payable, payroll, procurement, and other business teams to obtain complete and accurate information for journal entries and reconciliationsSupport quarterly and annual financial reporting activities, including schedules used in SEC reportingExecute assigned internal controls and maintain documentation in accordance with company policies and SOX requirementsProvide schedules and supporting documentation to internal and external auditors and respond to audit requestsIdentify opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate journal-entry, reconciliation, and close processesAssist with accounting research and special projects, including documenting conclusions and proposed accounting treatmentPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related fieldThree to five years of progressive general accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close responsibilitiesDemonstrated experience preparing and posting journal entries and completing balance sheet account reconciliationsStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and proficiency with Microsoft ExcelBonus Qualifications:Big 4 Preferred, CPA is a plusMaster’s degree in accountancyFast growth startup or public company experienceHands-on experience using NetSuite for general ledger accounting and financial reportingHands-on experience using FloQast for account reconciliations and close managementExperience reconciling and recording Stock Based Compensation & PayrollCompetenciesWe are looking for someone that is:Close ownership - takes responsibility for assigned tasks and consistently meets monthly and quarterly close deadlinesAttention to detail - prepares accurate journal entries and reconciliations supported by clear, complete documentationAnalytical thinking - understands account activity, identifies unusual items, and explains period-over-period changesProblem solving - researches and resolves reconciling items and accounting issues in a timely mannerOrganization - manages multiple accounts, schedules, and deadlines in a fast-paced close environmentSystems proficiency - works efficiently in NetSuite, FloQast, and Excel and can quickly learn new accounting toolsCommunication - clearly communicates close status, open items, and support needs to accounting and cross-functional stakeholdersProcess improvement - identifies practical ways to strengthen controls, improve accuracy, and shorten the close processCritical for Oklo:Passionate about clean energyPassionate about making advanced fission a realityWilling and able to learn quicklyWilling to think differently and do things in new waysComfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environmentExcited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving while not leaning only on what has been done beforeWilling to propose novel and creative solutions to technical problemsAn excellent writer in a modern active voice, so make your cover letter compelling and write it well!Able to communicate technical content and results verballyWho you are:A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process.
