Telugu Reviewer/Editor/Certifier, DOJ LSS

Job Description The Unconventional (TU) is seeking a qualified Telugu Reviewer/Editor/Certifier to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) with Translation, Interpretation, Transcription and other Linguistic Support Services (LSS). The role involves translating a wide range of documents and media, including legal, business, public administrative, medical, scientific, financial, historical, geographical, and military terminology. Tasks include translation of written and electronic documents, video and/or audio media, and ancillary services such as court and deposition interpretation. Materials may range from complex technical reports to informal street language and coded communications, all of which are legally sensitive and must be handled with strict confidentiality. Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Telugu within the past ten years, with superior English and editing skills. ILR score of 4 or equivalent on language/translation tests. Lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years (not necessarily consecutively). At least 1 year of experience working with law enforcement or legal departments. U.S. citizenship. Proficient in both English and Telugu, including specialized vocabulary for legal, diplomatic, and informal contexts. Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate terminology, with expertise in translation resources and reference materials. Fluent writing in Telugu and professional command of English. Accuracy in translation without omissions or additions, preserving tone and register. Adherence to professional ethics for linguists. Proficient with Computer‑Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, especially SDL Trados Studio. Clearance: Active Public Trust or higher security clearance. Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations. Travel: Some travel may be required. Job Type: Part‑time. Exemption Type: Non‑Exempt. Category: Contractors.
