Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular Progressive Care RN – North CarolinaStart Date: August 17, 2026 Location: Asheville, North Carolina Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio; minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period; rotating days and nights available; no call requiredHighlights: 40-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery stepdown unit specializing in post-operative care for open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung procedures, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies- Manage complex cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, heparin, and nitroglycerin; epidural management, chest tube care, and IV glucommander protocols- Receive overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block diagnoses- Utilize Cerner EMR system and modern equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps- Float to other stepdown or medical-surgical units as needed with appropriate ratios- Fast-paced, collaborative team environment with approximately 100 clinical staff membersRequirements: Active North Carolina RN license or ability to obtain- Stepdown and telemetry experience required- ACLS and BLS certifications required- Recent cardiovascular surgery or vascular surgery population experience within the past year strongly preferred- CVICU background is a plus- Team-oriented, flexible personality who thrives in dynamic clinical settingsWhy It's a Great Opportunity:This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced progressive care nurse to advance their cardiovascular surgical skills in a high-acuity stepdown environment.
