Industrial Fleet Manager, Industrial and Portable Toilet Summary Waste Pro of Louisiana is now hiring fleet managers to cover our Industrial and Portable Toilet division. Join an amazing team with great benefits. Summary of Position The Maintenance Manager plans, organizes, and supervises the Division's maintenance staff and functions. This management position holds responsibility for overall fleet/equipment support and associated maintenance processes that include inspection, repair, pre/post servicing, vehicle distribution, quality assurance, and disposal at the Division level. This manager works in partnership with the Regional Maintenance Manager and Operations teams to ensure overall fleet condition, equipment reliability, safety, and cost‑effective fleet performance. Responsibilities Manages departmental hiring, training, coaching, performance management, discipline, scheduling of work assignments, and overtime authorization. Maintains an ongoing preventive/corrective maintenance program that sets the standard for service excellence. Reviews status reports including road calls, breakdowns, parts inventory, repairs, and safety performance. Provides hands‑on maintenance assistance as needed. Educates driver responsibilities as they relate to DVIRs, operation of fleet vehicles, and basic CDL requirements. Ensures all maintenance‑related data is available for input in the vehicle maintenance system. Monitors Dossier efficiencies, including inventory control, goals for improved performance, monitoring, measuring, and reporting. Assists in purchasing new vehicles, equipment, tools, and containers. Develops maintenance‑related training sessions that improve overall fleet condition and operational knowledge of drivers, mechanics, and shop personnel. Administers and monitors regional adherence to federal and state programs, overseeing maintenance in accordance with EPA and other mandatory regulations. Verifies implementation of required DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations and monitors conformance on an ongoing basis, coordinating with local Safety, Corporate Safety, and Regional Maintenance Manager. Ensures efficient utilization, vehicle maintenance quality, and transportation to ready‑lines. Reports fleet inventory/condition, including out‑of‑service listings matched to the asset list. Manages divisional maintenance budgets. Implements and monitors all fleet maintenance activities (e.g., pre/post‑trip, safety lane, warranty recovery, tire standards, oil/lubricants, major component failure, and new initiatives). Facilitates movement of equipment between divisions, ensuring proper inspections and delivery in ready condition. Evaluates body‑damage estimates related to maintenance and fleet functions, manages cost controls, and enhances vendor service. Assesses equipment performance and recommends modifications and/or alternate vendors based on maintenance/costing information. Analyzes service issues related to fleet maintenance, performs root‑cause analysis, recommends remediation methodologies, and escalates issues as needed. Supports efforts to create useful metrics and performance diagnostic reporting tools, such as machinery dynamics, to support fleet quality trending and maintenance performance. Work Environment Requires motor coordination with finger dexterity (keyboarding, machine operation, driving, reaching, etc.). May occasionally require physical effort involving lifting/moving objects of up to 20 pounds, stooping, reaching, carrying, and pushing. May be exposed to physical occupational risks, such as cuts, bruises, and exposure to machinery or heavy equipment. May be exposed to environmental conditions such as dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes. The normal setting for this job is carried out in office, field, and maintenance facilities. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements Must have a valid Driver’s License. CDL license preferred. Engine rebuild certification is a plus. Brake certification required. Qualifications High School diploma is required. Requires 15+ years of progressive hands‑on experience in fleet management (preferred background in Waste Services, Transportation, Maintenance, or Parts administration). Solid project management, resource planning, oral and written communication skills. Specialized understanding of maintenance procedures and general knowledge of industry regulations (e.g., EPA, DOT, OSHA). Ability to manage complex and dynamic situations with a well‑developed sense of strategic and tactical priorities. High degree of autonomy, yet team oriented with ability to work cross‑functionally within a matrix organization. Skilled in planning and implementing goals required for cost‑effective management of allocated resources. Basic understanding of accounting principles. Attention to detail with demonstrated ability to produce accurate and consistent work quality. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and maintenance software programs (e.g., Dossier). Strong analytical skills with expertise in researching, interpreting, data management, and report generation. Experience managing and/or working as a member of an indirect/cross‑functional team. Must excel at managing and influencing the operational and administrative processes inherent in a high‑growth environment. Will bring an overall record of success reflected in professional, personal, and academic accomplishments.
