Job Description

The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures that product quality standards are consistently met by inspecting packaged goods, documenting findings, and preparing items for shipment in a cold storage environment. This role requires careful attention to detail, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to work efficiently with both physical materials and digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Check email daily and print inspection lists provided by handlers to plan and organize quality assurance tasks.
• Sync inspection lists to a tablet to create and maintain accurate QA reports.
• Prepare for work in the cold storage area by changing into appropriate boots and warm clothing; use gloves provided on-site.
• Work in the cooler to locate boxes stored on 6-foot pallets, handling boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Open boxes and count fillets to verify quantities and ensure products meet quality standards.
• Take multiple clear photos of fillets using a tablet (typically seven pictures per inspection) to document product condition.
• Input product weight and record any imperfections, defects, or quality concerns into the QA reporting system.
• Repack boxes securely with gel packs to maintain product integrity during storage and shipping.
• Label boxes accurately and deliver them to the dock area for shipment.
• Follow established quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures, including GMP and document control practices.
• Use scales and rulers correctly to measure product weight and dimensions as required.
• Support general production and packaging activities as needed while maintaining quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or inspection in a production or packaging environment.
• Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds and reach boxes stored on pallets up to 6 feet high.
• Comfort working in a cold, wet environment at approximately 35 degrees.
• Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and document control procedures.
• Ability to use a tablet or similar device to sync lists, take photos, and input data for QA reports.
• Competence in using scales and reading rulers to measure product weight and dimensions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail when counting fillets, identifying imperfections, and labeling products.
• Reliability in following scheduled shifts and completing assigned inspections and packaging tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general production, packaging, or as a production associate.
• Experience working in refrigerated or cold storage facilities.
• Ability to follow structured processes and standard operating procedures for quality assurance.
• Basic computer literacy for email communication and digital recordkeeping.
• Effective time management skills to handle multiple inspection tasks during a shift.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cold storage facility where the temperature is approximately 35 degrees and conditions can be wet. Appropriate cold-weather attire is required, including boots, warm clothing, and a beanie jacket, with gloves provided on-site. The work involves frequent movement in and around coolers and dock areas, handling boxes on pallets and working with gel packs. The schedule follows set afternoon and evening shifts: Monday 3 PM11 PM, Wednesday 3 PM11 PM, Thursday 2 PM10 PM, Friday 3 PM11 PM, Saturday 2 PM10 PM, with Tuesday and Sunday off.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Miami,FL.
