For more information about Endeavors, please visit: endeavors.org Position Summary: Chief Communications Officer The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) joins Endeavors at an exciting and important moment in the organization’s evolution. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this leader will serve as a trusted advisor and key member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic counsel on communications, public perception, organizational reputation, and crisis response. As Endeavors continues to evolve within an increasingly complex external environment, the CCO will strengthen organizational alignment, shape a clear and cohesive narrative across the organization's diverse programs, and ensure Endeavors' mission and impact are communicated with clarity, credibility, and purpose to employees, partners, policymakers, media, and the communities it serves. The CCO will lead an integrated communications and marketing strategy designed to strengthen Endeavors' voice, elevate its brand, and increase understanding of its work. This is an opportunity for a strategic storyteller who can move beyond tactical communications to create a cohesive narrative that connects Endeavors' many programs, clients, and areas of impact. Leading a multidisciplinary communications function, the CCO will oversee the Director of Marketing, Director of Communications, and Director of Advancement & Impact providing strategic direction, mentorship, and leadership to ensure these functions operate cohesively in support of Endeavors' mission and organizational priorities. The successful candidate will help Endeavors more fully share and celebrate the impact of its work. The organization approaches its mission with humility and is deeply focused on the people it serves. The CCO will honor that humility while helping the organization confidently communicate its accomplishments, elevate its visibility, and ensure its impact is recognized by the audiences that matter most. With a national workforce of approximately 1,800 employees and programs spanning multiple states and communities, the CCO will also help strengthen internal communications and connections across a geographically dispersed organization. This leader will ensure employees understand the broader Endeavors story and see how their individual work contributes to the organization's mission. This is an opportunity for an experienced communications executive, ideally with experience in a large, complex nonprofit organization, to help shape the next chapter of one of the nation’s largest faith-based human services organizations and help define how its story is told for years to come. The ideal candidate will bring sophisticated experience in strategic communications, reputation management, and navigating complex external environments, along with a track record of executive-level leadership and the ability to translate organizational complexity into a clear and compelling narrative that inspires trust, understanding, and engagement. Key responsibilities include: Provide strategic leadership for Endeavors' comprehensive communications, marketing, public relations, and external affairs efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and mission. Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and a key member of the executive leadership team, providing counsel on communications, public perception, organizational reputation, and stakeholder engagement. Serve as the organization's primary spokesperson and lead storyteller, representing Endeavors with media, government leaders, partners, and other key stakeholders. Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that elevates Endeavors' visibility, strengthens its reputation, and increases engagement with key audiences. Develop a cohesive organizational narrative that connects Endeavors' diverse programs, clients, and areas of impact while making the organization's complexity understandable and compelling. Strengthen Endeavors' national brand and public profile through compelling storytelling, media relations, digital engagement, and strategic communications. Develop thoughtful communications strategies that position Endeavors effectively within a complex and evolving public environment and ensure its mission and impact are clearly understood. Oversee the development and implementation of the marketing strategies for Endeavors’ philanthropic efforts, internal and external events, and employment engagement activities. Strengthen internal communications and employee engagement across a geographically dispersed workforce, ensuring employees are informed, connected to the mission, and aligned around shared priorities. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement. Collaborate across departments and functions to ensure communications strategies support organization-wide priorities and strengthen alignment across Endeavors' diverse programs, entities, and philanthropic efforts. Use data, analytics, and audience insights to evaluate communications effectiveness, measure impact, and continuously improve outreach strategies. Mission-Driven and Relational Leader The successful candidate will bring a genuine commitment to Endeavors' mission and embrace its faith-inspired culture, leading with humility, service, compassion, and authenticity while respecting people of all faith backgrounds. Strategic and Enterprise-Minded Communicator The successful candidate will bring a broad, organization-wide perspective and understand communications as a strategic driver of mission impact, organizational visibility, reputation, and engagement. This leader will be comfortable navigating a complex organization with multiple programs and entities and will be able to simplify complexity without oversimplifying the work. Compelling Storyteller and Narrative Builder The CCO will be an exceptional communicator and storyteller with the ability to translate complex organizational priorities and human experiences into clear, authentic, and compelling narratives. This leader will connect individual programs and client stories to the larger Endeavors mission, helping audiences understand not only what the organization does, but why it matters. The CCO will bring executive-level judgment and ideally have experience serving as part of a senior leadership or executive team. This leader will be a trusted thought partner to the CEO and senior leaders, offering candid, strategic counsel while building strong relationships across the organization. Calm, Credible Crisis Communicator The successful candidate brings sound judgment under pressure and can confidently advise the CEO through complex, rapidly evolving situations. They anticipate reputational risk, develop thoughtful communication strategies, and help the organization respond with clarity, transparency, and credibility while remaining grounded in its mission. The CCO will be a servant leader who builds both people and organizational cohesion. Leading a talented communications team with humility, accountability, and encouragement, this executive will strengthen executive and internal communications, help leaders consistently cascade messages across a geographically dispersed workforce, and foster a culture where employees feel aligned around a shared purpose, supported in their work, and empowered to succeed. Location, Compensation and Benefits This position is based in San Antonio, Texas, which is the preferred location, although remote arrangements may be considered for an exceptional candidate. Endeavors maintains a flexible work arrangement policy, with individual program leaders determining the appropriate structure for their teams based on organizational and programmatic needs. The salary range for this position is $250,000 to $300,000 , commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package.
